EVM Hints and Suggestions
Pins - You must use a pin in order to configure EVM. To keep your voice mail box secure, we do not recommend making your EVM pin the same as your voice mail password. While the web site that you enter your pin into is secure, it is possible for someone to spoof an EVM email, which would allow them to capture your EVM pin. If you used your voice mail password it would compromise the security of the voice mail system. While this is an unlikely scenario at the moment, given the recent problems we have had at the University with spam and spoofing, it is best to prepare for the worse. So please do not use your voice mail password as your EVM pin.
Note - Before entering your EVM pin into any email message or web site, please be sure of the following:
1) That the email did come from voicemail.harvard.edu.
2) The website is https://evm1.uis.harvard.edu
We have enabled SSL encryption on the EVM system to ensure that the data sent back and forth is secure. You can always check the server's certificate via your web browser to make sure you are on the correct site. If you are unsure how to do this, please check with your local support personnel.

evmNotify - EVM notifiy is a useful tool to use when:
You do not have a phone with a message waiting indicator light.
You are out of the office on a business trip or vacation.
You spend most of times at locations other than your office.
In these situations you can use evmNotify to send a message to up to 3 different email addresses when you receive a voice mail. If you choose to have the message sent to an email enabled cell phone or other wireless device, the subject line of the message can tell you at a glance useful information about the voice mail message, including who it was sent from if the sender is also a voice mail subscriber.

Archiving Voice Mail Messages - The voice mail system allows you to archive messages for up to 14 days. Once that 14 days is over, you have to re-save the message. Both evmDelivery and evmForward allow you to save your voice mail messages as a .wav file on your local pc. Configue evmDelivery if you wish to receive all of your voice mail messages in your email, or use evmForward to select individual messages for delivery to your email. evmDelivery is currently working and evmForward is expected to be available by the end of September.
